Your escalator needs to be kept clean on the outside and on the inside, both for safety reasons and for aesthetic reasons. Escalators are usually a prominent feature in any building and an escalator which appears to be dirty can negatively impact a customer’s view of your facilities and your organisation.
Escalators are machines and often the daily cleaning routine is not enough to ensure that they remain looking as good as you would wish. Steps, landing plates and decking become dull and dirty through use, and handrails lose their shine.
We provide a range of cleaning options for your escalator. Externally, these include handrail restoration and on-site step cleaning with a purpose-designed escalator step cleaning machine. These procedures can substantially improve the aesthetic appearance of your machine, but keep downtime to a minimum.
Internally, fire hazards can be generated by the accumulation of combustible material inside the truss, dirt can become compacted under the comb plates, and detritus builds up underneath the steps and in the escalator pits.
It is important to keep the escalator truss, pits and underneath the steps clean to reduce the risk of fire and to prolong the service life of your escalator. When an escalator is dirty inside conditions can be created where dirt, dust, oil, fluff and grease combine and begin to “grind” the moving parts of the escalator.
The step band can require both internal and external cleaning, and because there are occasions when appearance is everything, we offer an off-site step band refurbishment service with a range of options for restoring the step band to pristine condition.
